A1 is fetching the windward mark on starboard. B2 comes in on port and bears away early, ducking well clear astern of her, then tacks onto starboard — completing the tack about a length and a half from the mark and two thirds of a length clear astern of A1, who is still fetching. B2 then holds a course above close-hauled. A1 has to come up to stay clear of her and is pushed off her line to the mark. The two never come closer than half a hull length. A1 flies a yellow flag.
